Hello everyone.
Here’s this weeks addition of what did Pat get into!
This was another good week. As always that Pesky customer stuff first.
First up I took a ride down to Norwalk early in the week to visit a former customer of mine who owns a nice Model T that he uses for business advertising. Previously I got the T running better, adjusted, and a new set of tires. This time he had some trouble with the coil box during the last show he was at. Turns out the switch broke. I now have the coil box with me and the parts to fix it. More on this later
The next job I worked on was the Model A front axle I removed from the car last week. (The one with the broken front spring) I disassembled and cleaned and repainted the parts, and almost done with reassembly. It didn’t need much as it was in good shape. I got the new spring in today and got it ready to paint. With springs I usually will bead blast them if needed, and clean and coat the leafs with a special grease/oil mix I make. Since it decided to rain…again today I couldn’t paint it. Hopfully tomorrow’s job!
I also did a little Babbitt pouring prep. I have a Model A engine to rebuild coming up very soon. The machine work is completed already, I’m just waiting on the crankshaft to come back from machining. However I managed to get the connecting rods and main bearing caps prepped for Babbitt. Which just involves melting out the old Babbitt and bead blasting them nice and clean. More on this job later too.
Lastly I think I forgot to include the Studebacker seats I recently finished in the last weekly email. If didn’t oops here it is again. These were a complete set of front and back seats for a 1920 Studebacker. I made them from scratch using the old material as reference as best I could. I’m happy to say they came out very nice.
My stuff!
Recently I’ve focused mostly on customer work. However I did squeeze a few minutes here and there on my Roadster project so not much to report. Still sanding way on the doors and deck lid. This week I should be able to apply the next and final coats of primer. Then onto the top coat paint.
Lastly this weekend Jenn and I took Fiona(Jenns 1928 Model A open cab pickup) out for a run. We stoped at a new customers to look over the car(1965 Mustang more on this when I get to it)
Then off to lunch and back home. A nice fun drive for a Saturday.
FYI while reading my emails I’d know of anyone who would enjoy these too, feel free to send them their way. Or pass me their email and I’ll gladly add them to the list.
Also if you’re interested on catching up on my weekly emails….visit my website.
On there you’ll see a tab that says weekly project updates. All the write ups I’ve done since starting this are on there.
